Married to Dawn Cobb for 14 years, Don Cobb and his wife Dawn are raising the third of their three daughters, Madison, 12, diagnosed at 9 with PDD NOS, on the Autism spectrum who has recovered from virtually all of her life-long Autism symptoms! Don and Dawn’s two oldest daughters, Danielle 24 and Brittany 21, have each blessed the Cobbs with grandchildren – Abbey, 4 and Aubrey, 1 months.
Active in their area’s Celebrate Recovery community, Don and Dawn both help alcoholics and drug addicts recover from addiction and broken lives, and are grateful for the opportunity to impact the lives of so many Sonoma County residents. They also created Sonoma County Autism Support (sonomacountyautismsupport.com), a forum for local parents of children on the Autism spectrum to meet and connect, share information and support one another.
“12 Steps for Dummies” author Don Cobb has enjoyed nearly 20 years of continuous recovery, and has been actively involved in helping others overcome addictions of all kinds by writing books and managing recovery-oriented websites. Having served the homeless community for many years as Director of a large nonprofit in the city of Santa Rosa and also as a member of the Sonoma County Alcohol & Other Drugs Advisory Board, Don Cobb continues to serve the broken, alcoholic and addicted of this community. Don is also the lead singer/songwriter for the band THE MESSAGE, and leads worship for Celebrate Recovery meetings each week. Formerly the lead vocalist for The Buddy King Band, who produced a wonderful live album entitled “Blues Hawgs”, Don is currently finishing up an original Rock/Pop EP for THE MESSAGE which is expected to be complete by the Fall or Winter of 2011.
Founder and host of Principled Living (principledliving.net), Don’s passion bleeds over from family into politics, both local and national, and enjoys seeking the truth with all of his heart, sharing what he finds with all who will listen/read.
As Madison found her voice 6 months ago, she has joined Dad in leading their church congregation and Celebrate Recovery meetings in worship, too. Since Maddy began singing with Dad, her Autism symptoms have all but disappeared, a miraculous change which can be attributed both to singing for the Lord and to her Mom’s diligent quest to learn all she could about Autism and what treatments are effective in treating Autism. Dawn has left no stone unturned in finding the right supplements and services which have helped our Maddy’s Autism symptoms virtually melt away!
Don, Dawn and Madison Cobb are all active in their church (Sebastopol Christian Church) where they have fallen in love with the congregation for so many reasons, and remain active in the recovery community, as well. They are very grateful to live in Sonoma County, CA. Both Don and Dawn are employed with DAAC, the Drug Abuse Alternatives Center located in Santa Rosa, CA, dedicated to helping those trapped in addiction to find freedom and a new life, one day at a time.
